How to Get a PDF of Your Social Security Benefits

Steps on How to Get a PDF of Your Social Security Benefits

• In your browser search bar, go to: https://www.ssa.gov/
  
• In the top navigation bar, click “Benefits”
• In the dropdown menu, under “By Phase”, click “Prepare”
• On this page, under the topic “Plan for Retirement”, click on the blue hyperlink that says, “Estimate Your Benefit Amount”
  

Create an Account

• On this page, in a gray box titled Get An Estimate
• Click “Create Account”, it will open a new page
• On this page there is a box that says “Create An Account”, click it and it will turn blue
• Now create an account
• Enter your email address
• Go to the email address account and find the email, the sender will be
  “Login.gov ”
• Click the button that says “Confirm my email address”
• It will take you back to a page to create your password
• Create a safe password
• Select authentication method
• After setting up your authentication method, you will be prompted to click “Agree & Continue”
• The Terms of Service will now show, click “I Agree To The Terms of Service”
• Click “Next”

Add Details

Social Security will now prompt you to “Please tell us who you are”. Enter the following information.

1. First Name, Middle Initial, Last Name, Suffix
2. S.S. Number
3. Date of Birth
4. Home Address
5. Phone Number
6. Click “Next”

Verification

Social Security will now verify your identity.

• Select how you want to be verified (Phone or Text)
• Click “Next”
• Enter the activation code and click “Submit My Activation Code”
• The site will confirm you have access, click “Next”
• The Terms of Service will now show, read and click “I Agree To The Terms of Service”
• Click “Next”

Your Social Security Profile is now visible to you...

• At the top of the page, click on “Your Social Security Statement”
• Click the link to access your statement
  
• Your statement will download to your computer
  • Warning-- Please do not use public computers or Wi-Fi to download personal information. Make sure it is a secure and personal network and computer.

View & Email Advisor

You can view your statement now.

Final step: Contact the advisor or financial professional you wish to work with and attach the PDF to an email. Encrypt and send.

From there, we can now run your Social Security analysis.
